Binance, Bitget, OKX, and MEXC Apps Removed From Philippine Apple App Store

-

The mobile apps for offshore cryptocurrency exchanges Binance, Bitget, OKX, and MEXC are no longer available for download on the Apple App Store for users in the Philippines.

The unavailability of these applications follows a pattern of recent regulatory actions directed at unregistered digital asset trading platforms operating in the country.

App Store Search Results

Recent searches conducted on iOS devices within the Philippines show that queries for these specific exchanges no longer return their official applications.

Based on App Store screenshots, searching for “OKX” currently displays ads for RedotPay and directs users to the locally licensed exchange Coins.ph.

A search for “bitget” returns alternative platforms such as Gate.io and the MetaMask wallet. Similarly, queries for “Mexc” yield results for unrelated finance applications, including local loan apps and Trust Wallet, rather than the MEXC exchange app.

The Binance Precedent

The removal of these applications from the iOS marketplace closely mirrors the regulatory actions taken against Binance earlier this year.

In February 2026, the Binance application was removed from the Philippine version of the Google Play Store.

In April 2024, the SEC formally sent letters to both Google and Apple, officially requesting the removal of all applications controlled by Binance from their respective Philippine app marketplaces, citing the platform’s operation without the necessary regulatory licenses to solicit investments or facilitate a securities exchange.

BitPinas is verifying if the removal of the exchanges in the App Store are the results of the 2024 letter.

Prior SEC Advisories

The disappearance of the OKX and MEXC apps aligns with previous warnings issued by local regulators.

In August 2025, the SEC issued public advisories specifically flagging international crypto exchanges. The Commission warned Filipino investors that these platforms were operating without the required licenses from the SEC to legally offer securities or operate as virtual asset service providers within the jurisdiction.

At the time of writing, the SEC and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) have not released a public statement confirming a formal directive to Apple regarding the specific removal of the Binance, Bitget, OKX, and MEXC applications.

This is a developing story.
