Filipino-developed blockchain game Sabong Saga has rebranded to Chicken Saga. The developers noted that the move aims to make the title more globally accessible and distance it from real-world associations with gambling and animal cruelty.
Sabong Saga Rebranding
In an X post, the team behind the game announced the rebrand. According to them, Chicken Saga retains the core gameplay elements that defined Sabong Saga, which reimagined traditional cockfighting as a digital, cruelty-free experience.
“As our community grew and our message reached beyond our borders, we learned something important along the way. The word ‘sabong’, while deeply rooted in our culture, also carried associations with betting and animal cruelty.”

The developers said their goal has always been to transform a once life-ending tradition into a digital adventure that celebrates chickens. Misconceptions surrounding the original name made it more difficult to communicate this mission internationally, prompting the shift to a simpler and more universal title: Chicken Saga.
“Chicken Saga embodies everything that made Sabong Saga special — but with a name that’s fun, universal, and true to the heart of our mission. Behind the simplicity lies the same purpose we’ve carried from the beginning: to give chickens new life in the digital world and reshape the legacy of “sabong.””

In August, the game achieved $870,000 in NFT sales on the Ronin Network, with strong activity across its Genesis and Legacy Chicken collections.
Chicken Saga is a Filipino-developed blockchain game built on the Ronin Network, where players collect, breed, battle, and trade NFT chickens with unique traits. It incorporates a native token ($COCK) for in-game transactions, crafting mechanics, the Ninuno reward system for early NFT holders, and a Creator Program that shares revenue with ecosystem contributors.
The developers emphasized that the game blends strategy, auto-battler mechanics, and a metagame loop focused on breeding, resource management, and competitive play, aiming to create a sustainable and engaging web3 gaming ecosystem.
