CoinEx, in collaboration with multicultural creative hub Laguna Media Corps, recently hosted a seminar on “Digital Information Dissemination, Cybercrime Awareness & Prevention, and Digital Financial Literacy,” attended by 50 media professionals, including journalists, writers, and reporters

About the Seminar

The event, which aimed to equip journalists with the knowledge necessary to report accurately and responsibly in an evolving digital environment while enhancing their understanding of digital communication, online security, and cryptocurrency fundamentals, featured industry experts and law enforcement officials discussing critical topics.

CoinEx PH Country Manager Dell Omasas addressed common crypto misconceptions in his talk, “Misconceptions About Crypto and the Good News About Crypto,” focusing on the need for greater crypto literacy in today’s digital landscape.

Meanwhile, veteran journalist and Philippine National Press Club member Felix Tambongco discussed how fake news affects media credibility in his talk, “Fake News and Its Impact on Media Integrity.”

In addition, representatives from the Philippine National Police Cybercrime Office, PSSG Cherry Pie Azarcon and PMSG Rufa Lachica of Cybercrime RACU4-A, provided insights on cybercrime threats and preventive measures.

The crypto platform also emphasized that such initiatives are vital in connecting technology, media, and the public, promoting digital literacy and a safer, more informed society.

According to the media release, some attendees were from major news outlets, including the Philippine Information Agency, Manila Standard and GMA TV.

CoinEx has been actively engaging with communities across the Philippines through various initiatives:

  • Pasigarbo 2025: As an exhibitor at Holy Name University, CoinEx’s booth drew more than 1,000 visitors with interactive games and promotions. It also sponsored the CoinEx Choice Award during the HNU Ambassador selection in February.
  • $MGG Airdrop: The firm partnered with MetaGaming Guild (MGG) for a 200,000 $MGG airdrop to promote Mole Smash, a Telegram Mini App game.
  • Bike Race Sponsorship: CoinEx sponsored the New Year Criterium Bike Race in Tanauan City.
  • Chess Tournament: The crypto platform marked its 7th anniversary with a chess tournament at the University of Batangas in December, attracting 270 players.
  • Bridge to Hope: Last year, CoinEx also rolled out Starlink internet units in Agoncillo and Laurel Batangas and Negros Occidental  as part of its “Bridge to Hope” initiative.
