XRP Lawsuit Resolution Expected Before ETF Greenlight

-

  • Experts suggest XRP lawsuit resolution must happen before any ETF approval.
  • Institutional interest in an XRP ETF is rising, with 2025 seen as a pivotal year.

With Bitcoin and Ethereum paving the way for spot ETFs, speculation is mounting that XRP could be next. As institutional interest surges, asset managers are increasingly filing applications for an XRP ETF, signaling growing confidence in its regulatory outlook.

A recent CNF update discussed how references to the Ripple lawsuit were removed from the SEC website, sparking debate over whether this signals a victory for XRP. However, experts suggest that a resolution in the ongoing XRP lawsuit may be necessary before any ETF approval can occur.

Regulatory Shifts and SEC Leadership Impact

The timeline for an XRP ETF largely depends on regulatory decisions, particularly under new SEC leadership. Former SEC Commissioner Paul Atkins, known for his crypto-friendly stance under the Trump administration, is rumored to be in the mix for a leadership role. His potential return could create a more favorable environment for digital asset ETFs, raising hopes for XRP approval by late 2025.

Attorney Jeremy Hogan believes that the lawsuit’s resolution will likely precede any ETF approval, not necessarily because it must happen first, but because the ETF application process itself is lengthy and complex. Given the SEC’s historical approach, experts predict that a finalized legal outcome for Ripple could help clear lingering uncertainties surrounding XRP’s status.

Institutional Interest and Market Impact

XRP’s strong market capitalization and shifting regulatory landscape make it a prime candidate for an ETF. Several major asset management firms, including Bitwise, 21Shares, WisdomTree, and Canary Capital, have recently submitted filings for an XRP ETF, highlighting growing institutional demand.

Historically, ETF approvals have triggered significant price surges. Bitcoin experienced a major rally after its Futures ETF launch, and Ethereum is currently seeing similar momentum. Analysts suggest that an XRP ETF could introduce new liquidity, attract institutional investors, and potentially drive up the asset’s value.

Outlook: Will XRP Be Next?

While there’s no official timeline, the combination of regulatory shifts, legal resolution, and rising institutional interest could make 2025 a pivotal year for XRP.

As for XRP’s price performance, a CNF update highlighted that XRP rallied past $2.35 following Gary Gensler’s hints about leaving the SEC.

As of now, according to CoinMarketCap data, Ripple (XRP) is trading at $2.50, surging by 3.07% in the past day but declining by 0.42% over the past week. See XRP price chart below.
