Beyond Bitcoin, Ripple CEO Supports A Diversified US Crypto Reserve

-

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has called for the US to adopt a diversified approach to its crypto reserves.

“If a govt digital asset reserve is created – I believe it should be representative of the industry, not just one token (whether it be BTC, XRP or anything else),” said Garlinghouse in a post on X on 27 January 2025.

Moving beyond Bitcoin, Garlinghouse insisted that the broader range of digital assets should be considered for the US financial strategy. To justify this, he wrote, “I own XRP, BTC, and ETH among a handful of others – we live in a multichain world, and I’ve advocated for a level-playing field, instead of one token versus another.”

Moving Beyond “Digital Gold” ?

Advocating for the crypto industry, Garlinghouse said, “Let me say this as clearly as I can – the crypto industry has a real shot, here and now, to achieve the many goals we have in common, IF we work together instead of tearing each other down. This is not, and never will be, a zero-sum game.”

Bitcoin’s role as a store of value and its decentralized nature have earned it the moniker “digital gold.”

Meanwhile, powerful political figures and influential financial and crypto industry figures are not only advocating for the US to adopt Bitcoin as national strategic asset, but other countries too.

To start with, this movement was spearheaded by US Senator Cynthia Lummis and supported by US President Donald Trump.

In an exclusive interview with 99Bitcoins, Paolo Ardoino talked about the possibility of BTC reserves.

“Bitcoin reserves are a very good idea and very intelligent idea,” he said. “I believe that every country should actually look into it. Because eventually it will happen. And you really don’t want to be the last country to start doing a BTC review in your central bank reserves.”

Ripple CEO Congratulates Newly Appointed Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent

The US Senate officially confirmed Scott Bessent as the next US Treasury Secretary. Bessent is a billionaire hedge fund manager and Trump’s nominee.

Garlinghouse took to X to congratulate the newly-confirmed Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

“He’ll be an incredible leader for Americans,” said Ripple CEO. “I’m confident he’ll enact common-sense economic policies, working with the Administration and Congress to grow US tech and crypto innovation.”
