Honda and Acura EV owners to gain access to Tesla Superchargers this June

-

Honda and its luxury brand, Acura, are set to join the growing list of automakers providing EV owners access to Tesla’s Supercharger network in North America.

Starting in June, owners of the Honda Prologue and Acura ZDX electric vehicles will be able to charge at Tesla’s stations. Those EVs are built with CCS charging ports — not the technology that Tesla uses. This means Honda and Acura customers will need to purchase Honda-approved fast-charging adapters from dealerships. The automaker has not yet shared details on pricing.

Honda said owners of the Prologue and ZDX will be notified on the HondaLink and Acura EV apps when adapters are available to purchase. The apps will also display the locations of authorized Supercharger locations.

Honda agreed in 2023 to adopt Tesla’s charging standard, otherwise known as NACS (North American Charging Standard). At the time, Honda said it would release a new EV model in 2025 built with the NACS standard.

TechCrunch has reached out to Honda for an updated timeline. Other automakers with access to Tesla’s Superchargers include Ford, General Motors, Lucid, Rivian, and more.
