Maya, Lydian Partner to Soon Enable ‘Pay with Crypto’ for Philippine Merchants

-

Financial technology company Maya and digital asset infrastructure provider Lydian announced a collaboration to enable digital asset payments for merchants in the Philippines.

According to a joint statement, the initiative will integrate a “Pay with Crypto” option into existing consumer payment methods, including QR codes, payment links, and online checkouts. The rollout will focus on stablecoin-based transactions.

Through Lydian’s infrastructure, businesses utilizing the Maya Business platform can accept digital asset payments from consumers. To address concerns regarding market fluctuations, the system provides merchants with same-day settlements directly in Philippine pesos, eliminating their exposure to cryptocurrency price volatility.

Lydian, backed by Tether and Cantor Fitzgerald, provides the underlying digital asset payment infrastructure that allows merchants and payment providers to accept stablecoins and other digital assets at the point of sale.

Regulatory and Compliance Layer

Maya will function as the regulated infrastructure layer for the partnership. The company will utilize its existing nationwide merchant network and technology platform to facilitate the transactions.

Additionally, Maya will manage the compliance requirements for the initiative. This includes conducting wallet screening, enforcing Travel Rule compliance, and handling reporting requirements aligned with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).

Local Market Context

The upcoming integration by Maya and Lydian follows similar cryptocurrency payment functionalities already available in the local market. Digital asset platforms and exchanges such as Coins.ph, Bitget, and Bybit currently offer features that allow users to utilize their cryptocurrency balances for everyday commerce and purchases.
