Moonfrost to Open Early Access, Launching in Spring 2025

-

Oxalis Games has confirmed that Moonfrost, their life simulation farming RPG, will enter early access in Spring 2025.

The game will be available for PC on both Windows and Mac, and players will no longer need an alpha code to participate. This announcement comes alongside the decision to cancel Alpha Release 6 (AR6), opting instead to extend the availability of Alpha Release 5 (AR5) to allow players more time with the current version.

This change reflects feedback from the community, and players will be able to continue exploring AR5 through February 2025 before the public early access launch. The transition also includes updates to the existing alpha build, which will introduce new features such as fishing and improvements to other mechanics.

What is Moonfrost?

Moonfrost is a life simulation farming RPG developed by Oxalis Games, set in a world where players can engage in farming, crafting, and exploration.

In the game, players take on the role of a character who must cultivate a farm, build relationships, and uncover secrets in a cozy and dynamic environment. The game blends traditional RPG elements with web3 technology, offering players the chance to experience a virtual economy and unique in-game features that are linked to blockchain.

Moonfrost focuses on a relaxed, creative gameplay loop, allowing players to progress at their own pace whilst exploring different aspects of farming and life simulation.

What to expect from early access?

The upcoming early access phase of Moonfrost will introduce several new features and mechanics aimed at expanding the core gameplay experience.

One of the primary additions is fishing, which will be further developed and refined during early access. Players will be able to experiment with different rods and bait types, and vote on two potential fishing styles to help the developers decide which approach to continue. Additionally, the game will introduce a cooking system where players can experiment with various ingredients to create new dishes, moving beyond the basic recipe system currently available.

Oxalis Games will also release a whitepaper and roadmap ahead of the early access launch, providing players with detailed information on the game’s web3 economy and upcoming features. The early access version will be available on PC for both Windows and Mac, with a Steam release planned.

A mobile version is expected in the future, although no specific release date has been announced.
