Doopies Collection Rumours Raise Concerns Over Doodles’ Brand

The Doodles community is abuzz over the possibility of a new NFT collection, the Doopies, which has yet to be officially confirmed by the team.

Despite this, a screenshot from the official Doodles App have begun circulating, drawing attention to a potential expansion of the Doodleverse. The characters, which are described as quirky and eccentric, have sparked both excitement and concerns.

In addition to this speculation, the launch of the DOOD token on May 9, has also raised questions about the direction of the project. Whilst the token is part of an effort to expand the Doodles ecosystem, its initial performance has been underwhelming.

What was the community reaction?

Originally shared by Ape Ventures founder Xeer on X, the reaction within the Doodles community has been mixed, with a noticeable shift toward scepticism and concern. Whilst some fans are excited by the prospect of new characters, many are concerned about the impact on the value of existing Doodles NFTs. Some users feel that releasing another collection could lead to brand dilution, making it harder for the project to maintain its prestige in the long term.

A recurring theme in the responses has been the fear of “max extraction”—the idea that Doodles is focused on generating revenue rather than prioritising the interests of its community. Some community members have also questioned whether Doodles is attempting to attract buyers from other established NFT communities, such as Azuki or Bored Ape.

Whilst the Doopies collection remains speculative, this has added fuel to concerns about the project’s direction.

What’s next for Doodles?

Whilst the Doopies collection has not been officially confirmed, its speculation has already brought the project under scrutiny.

The recent launch of the DOOD token currently trading at $0.007—a 20% decrease from its initial price according to data from CoinGecko—has also added another layer of complexity.

Although the token’s initial performance has been underwhelming, it remains a key part of Doodles’ future plans, and its role in the ecosystem will unfold as the project continues to evolve.
