In line with the ongoing global hackathon Base Batch, local communities will be conducting workshops in three different cities in the Philippines — Manila in the National Capital Region, and Legazpi and Naga in the Bicol Region.
Base Batch Workshop in PH
The Base Batch Workshops in the Philippines are community-hosted events aimed at empowering developers and builders to collaborate, learn, and innovate within the Base network and its ecosystem.
Base is a layer two network for major blockchain Ethereum. It is developed by Coinbase engineer Jesse Pollak and has been supported by the crypto exchange giant.

For these workshops, the Base team is said to offer hands-on sessions for all skill levels, providing opportunities to connect with the builder community, participate in regional buildathons, and compete for $ETH prizes and incubator placements.

What is Base Batch?
Base Batch is a global builder program aimed at recruiting developers to create industry-defining on-chain applications. The Asia Pacific hackathon runs from April 25 to May 16, 2025.
On the website, the organizers highlighted that, unlike typical hackathons, it offers participants the chance to gain recognition, funding, and long-term support.
Teams from the inaugural buildathon can secure up to $1 million in funding, with more than 50 teams invited to incubators and Demo Day.
Tracks
Base Batch will select at least one or two teams from each of the following buildathon tracks, each designed to push innovation on-chain:
- AI
- Stablecoins
- Mini-apps
- Entertainment
- Showcase
- Vibe Coding
- DeFi
Each track offers a total prize of 1.5 $ETH, which is around $2,700 or ₱153,700:
- First Place: 1 $ETH (~$1,800 or ₱102,000)
- Second Place: 0.5 $ETH (~$900 or ₱51,000)
How to Participate?
To participate in Base Batch, teams must submit one project featuring a functioning on-chain app with a public URL, an open-source GitHub repository (unless in the Showcase track), and a short demo video covering the project overview.
Projects must also show proof of deployment with at least one transaction on the Base mainnet.
While apps built before the buildathon are allowed, teams must clearly highlight any new features developed during the event.
It is strongly recommended to integrate Basenames and Smart Wallets for easier user onboarding.
For those joining the Vibe Coding track, an additional 10-page pitch deck must be submitted along with the prototype. Judging will focus on the idea, product quality, go-to-market plan, and team strength.
Projects will be evaluated based on several key criteria:
- They must be built on Base (onchain)
- Sork as described
- Showcase innovation and creativity
- Be practical and accessible for users
- Feature an intuitive and user-friendly design
- Create a strong, impressive impact within the given time frame
Base Batch Timeline
- April 1, 2025: Registrations open
- April 25, 2025: Hackathon starts
- May 16, 2025: Registrations close and hackathon ends
- May 31, 2025: Results announced
